Personal Bio
Naomi Davis is an urban theorist, attorney, activist, and proud granddaughter of Mississippi sharecroppers. She is President and founder of BIG: Blacks in Green.™ Before specializing in green community education and trade with BIG™, Naomi served as Manager of Marketing/Business Partnerships, Advertising & Membership at the League of Chicago Theatres. In 1988 she founded the public affairs and marketing communications firm, Song Shakir Davis, with a focus on political campaign management in judicial elections. She’s a graduate of Fisk University with a double major in Speech & Drama and English and a Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School. Naomi is a Green For All Fellow and serves on the GreenFestival Host Committee, Chicagoland Green Collar Jobs Initiative Steering Committee, Climate Justice Chicago Advisory Board, and Environmental Justice Magazine Editorial Board. For her work in green community economic development, Naomi has received Lt. Governor Pat Quinn’s 2007 Environmental Hero Award, the 2008 Chicago Magazine Green Award, the 2009 Jewel-Osco Environmental Stewardship Award, and the 2010 Citizen Newspapers “10 Community Leaders To Watch.”

BIG™ is one of America's most diverse eco-orgs, thought leader in green community education and trade development for mixed-income communities, and national network for advancing green-village-building, its signature initiative. It was born to remind generations of our great cultural legacy - which is our stewardship of the land – and to reinvent that legacy in the age of climate change. BIG™ teaches communities of color the risks of global warming and the health and wealth opportunities of the new green economy, and works to foster and sustain green, neighbor-owned businesses in black communities. Its focus is to recreate community wealth by cultivating next generations of engineers and new generations of green manufacturers. It does this through an emerging 3-part system, the BIG Village™ – which is an efficient delivery system for ancient and innovative green products, practices, and services; the BIG Hub™ – which is an epicenter for green training, development, and lifestyle transformation; and the BIG Toolbox™ – which is a collection of resources packaged for individual activists. Its platform is informed and inspired by America's great Underground Railroad story – which teaches the primacy of self-help and the importance of allies across the bounds of race and class. Its mission is to link, leverage, and lead through a new breed of environmentalists who will invent, invest, manufacture, merchandise, and love their communities into walkable, self-reliant, mixed-income villages. BIG is presently organizing green-village-building collaborations in the Chicago communities of Riverdale, Bronzeville, and Woodlawn/Washington Park.

Please check out Maafa21 Black Genocide in 21st Century America

They were stolen from their homes, locked in chains and taken across an ocean. And for more than 200 years, their blood and sweat would help to build the richest and most powerful nation the world has ever known.

But when slavery ended, their welcome was over. America's wealthy elite had decided it was time for them to disappear and they were not particular about how it might be done.

What you are about to see is that the plan these people set in motion 150 years ago is still being carried out today. So don't think that this is history. It is not. It is happening right here, and it's happening right now.

Hi Jill!  I just got your friend request.  Haven't visited this site for a long time.  I came today looking for the radio show, but don't see it.  :-(  Anyhoo, I'll talk to you later.  Hope you enjoyed…
